Accompanist: 

Participants will have the opportunity to work daily with Iris Hsu, a staff accompanist at the New England Conservatory . Each participant will rehearse extensively with Iris, and she will accompany all mock auditions and masterclasses.

Sample Schedule:

Participants will take part in a busy schedule of activities focused on optimizing performance at their upcoming auditions. The schedule includes daily mock auditions, individual lessons, and discussion sessions targeting key aspects of the audition process.

SUNDAY, AUGUST 4

4:00pm - Arrival/check in

5:00pm – Introduction for students with Emily Taubl

5:30pm – Dinner

6:00pm – Individual rehearsals with Iris Hsu

 

MONDAY, AUGUST 5

8:00am – Breakfast

9:00am – Mock auditions with Malcolm Lowe

12:15pm – Lunch

1:00pm – Individual lessons with Malcolm Lowe (violinists only). Individual practice time for all other participants.

4:00pm - Discussion session with Malcolm Lowe: “How can I stand out?”

5:30pm – Dinner

7:00pm – Recreation time

10:00pm - Return to dorm

 

Tuesday, AUGUST 6

8:00am – Breakfast

9:00am – Mock auditions with Emily Taubl, University of Vermont

12:15pm – Lunch  

1:00pm – Discussion session with Emily Taubl: “Audition Etiquette”

2:30pm - Individual practice with one-on-one coaching by Emily Taubl

5:30pm – Dinner

7:00pm – Recreation time

10:00pm - Return to dorm

9:00am – Mock auditions with Hans Jorgen Jensen, Northwestern University

12:15pm – Lunch  

1:00pm – Individual lessons with Hans Jorgen Jesen (cellists only)/Individual practice time

4:00pm - Discussion session with Hans Jorgen Jensen: “What are teachers looking for?”

5:30pm – Dinner

The Conservatory Audition Workshop takes place at Champlain College. Founded in 1878, Champlain College is an integral part of the city of Burlington with a sprawling campus overlooking Lake Champlain.

Daily sessions will take place in the Champlain College Alumni Auditorium. Participants will be housed in double-occupancy dorm rooms on the campus. A dedicated counselor will provide around-the-clock supervision and support throughout the week. Participants will receive delicious and nutritious meals in the Champlain College dining hall. 

Fees:

The Conservatory Audition Workshop gives participants a competitive advantage during the audition process with invaluable one-on-one interaction with teachers from top music schools and strategies for taking successful auditions.  Tuition includes housing and meals.

Total tuition: $2,500

Payment schedule: 

  • $1,000 non-refundable deposit in order to secure spot after acceptance

  • $1,500 remaining balance must be received on or before July 1st, 2019
